Wattlebird on forest grass tree (Xanthorrhoea latifolia)
"The two grass trees were growing at my neighbour's gate, and they sent up two beautiful, parallel flower spikes. I set up a hide and photographed the honeyeaters that came to feed on the copious nectar. This wattlebird was just long enough to reach from one spike to the other, giving the image a pleasing tension. I almost never photograph a wildlife subject against a blue sky, but the project called for bold, clean images, so I broke one of my own rules.."
