"This is a photograph of my friend Elsie in her beautiful garden. Aged 88, Elsie does all the work in the garden herself, including mowing the lawns. It is an extensive garden in a classic cottage style that displays her intuitive and creative sense of colour and design. Cultivated plants sit alongside wild flowers, giving a vibrant and unique quality to the garden. I wanted to celebrate Elsie's achievements as an amateur gardener who has exceptional creative skills and has spent her life creating this beautiful environment. I also wanted to express my admiration for her in keeping so fit, healthy and independent."
