"Part one of a pair of images, Junction 6 is a 180-degree view of a motorway junction on the M40. The road has been carved through a hillside, with dense woodland planted right up to the border of the motorway. The view has always interested me. I wanted to produce an image that showed the density of traffic travelling through beautiful woodland, highlighting human intervention and the fragile nature of what remains. The image is constructed from 369 individual photographs, randomly arranged to create a sense of disorder. The only constant is the line of the motorway, which is isolated to emphasise the effect of the road through the landscape.".
