I had enjoyed watching the woodpeckers feeding on peanuts in the garden and wanted to capture a portrait of them. I particularly liked the way the backlighting created a rim-lighting on the birds.
I had been feeding the birds, including the woodpeckers, in the garden. This female had eaten and hopped up the branch of the tree to drum. I used a hide to conceal myself.
